It's been a tough stretch for the Marsing football program. The Huskies haven't enjoyed a winning season since 2013, when Marsing went 5-3. Since that 2013 season, the Huskies are just 7-50.
Under first-year head coach Mike Nunnelee a year ago, Marsing got off to a promising start. The Huskies were 2-0 after victories over Valley and Wendell, and had outscored the opposition 77-25. But Marsing went winless the rest of the way, wrapping up a 2-6 campaign. In those final six losses, Marsing was outscored 218-85.
As Nunnelee enters his second year as head coach, he will do so with a team that is short on All-Conference performers, but filled with a brimming enthusiasm for the game of football.
Marsing's 2021 schedule begins with road trips to Valley and Wendell, the two teams the Huskies defeated a year ago. They will also host Orofino and Class 3A Payette in their non-conference slate.
There are no easy games once Western Idaho Conference play begins, which makes the task for a rebuilding Marsing seem daunting. But this is a team filled with the potential to surprise folks this year.
